Choosing the right TPI
- 2–4 TPI — Large solid bar, heavy structural sections and thick billets
- 4–8 TPI — General purpose metal cutting — solid bar and flat plate
- 6/10 variable pitch — Tube, mixed sections and bundles — reduces vibration for longer blade life
- 10–14+ TPI — Thin wall tube, sheet metal and thin sections
Choosing the right width
- ½" — Most common general purpose width for horizontal and vertical bandsaws
- ¾" – 1" — Heavier cuts and straighter feed on larger horizontal machines
- 1¼" and above — Heavy-duty production cutting and large section capacity machines
