Application
Fine TPI bimetal bandsaw blades in this configuration cut thin-wall metal tube, sheet, and precision aluminium extrusions cleanly, with minimal burr and good dimensional control.
Bandsaw Blade Width: 1/2"
At 1/2" wide, this is the most common general-purpose bandsaw blade width. It tracks reliably for straight ripping, resawing, and gentle curves on mid-size floor-standing machines, and is the default choice for most wood and light metal bandsaw blade work.
TPI: 24 TPI
Finest cut — very thin sheet metal, delicate brass, and thin-walled precision tube.
Keep at least 3 teeth in contact with the workpiece at all times for efficient cutting and to avoid stripping tooth tips. For thin-wall or variable-section material, variable-pitch bandsaw blades reduce harmonic vibration and extend bandsaw blade life.
Bandsaw Blade Length: 899mm
A 899mm bandsaw blade fits compact benchtop bandsaws. These smaller machines are common in hobbyist workshops and light trade use, where work-piece size is limited but the machine is portable and cost-effective.
If your saw requires a slightly different bandsaw blade length, enter your exact measurement in our configurator — we cut bandsaw blades to any length within our range. The loop length is always measured with the bandsaw blade ends joined as they run on the machine.
Choosing an 899mm 1/2" 24 TPI bimetal blade
This 899mm bimetal bandsaw blade is 1/2" (about 12.7mm) wide with a very fine 24 TPI pitch. It is designed for thin metal on small bandsaws: sheet, strip, thin-wall tube, small conduit and delicate profiles.
With about 1mm between teeth, three teeth span little more than 3mm. That close spacing keeps thin edges supported and stops the blade snatching at the material, which is the main cause of stripped teeth on thin work. It cuts slowly in heavy sections, so it is best kept for the thin stock it was made for.
The bimetal design, a high-speed steel edge welded to a flexible back, keeps fine teeth sharp in steel, stainless and non-ferrous metals and helps an 899mm band resist fatigue. The 1/2" width keeps cuts in thin material straight and true.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cut sheet metal on a bandsaw?
Yes, with a fine pitch such as 24 TPI. Support the sheet well and clamp it firmly so it cannot lift or vibrate as the blade cuts.
How should I store spare blades?
Keep them coiled, dry and away from other tools that could knock the teeth. Wear gloves when uncoiling, as a coiled blade can spring open.
