Application
Fine TPI bimetal bandsaw blades in this configuration cut thin-wall metal tube, sheet, and precision aluminium extrusions cleanly, with minimal burr and good dimensional control.
Bandsaw Blade Width: 1/2"
At 1/2" wide, this is the most common general-purpose bandsaw blade width. It tracks reliably for straight ripping, resawing, and gentle curves on mid-size floor-standing machines, and is the default choice for most wood and light metal bandsaw blade work.
TPI: 14 TPI
Very fine — precision cuts on thin aluminium, mild steel sheet, and intricate plastic profiles.
Keep at least 3 teeth in contact with the workpiece at all times for efficient cutting and to avoid stripping tooth tips. For thin-wall or variable-section material, variable-pitch bandsaw blades reduce harmonic vibration and extend bandsaw blade life.
Bandsaw Blade Length: 899mm
A 899mm bandsaw blade fits compact benchtop bandsaws. These smaller machines are common in hobbyist workshops and light trade use, where work-piece size is limited but the machine is portable and cost-effective.
If your saw requires a slightly different bandsaw blade length, enter your exact measurement in our configurator — we cut bandsaw blades to any length within our range. The loop length is always measured with the bandsaw blade ends joined as they run on the machine.
Choosing an 899mm 1/2" 14 TPI bimetal blade
This 899mm bimetal bandsaw blade is 1/2" (about 12.7mm) wide with a constant 14 TPI pitch. It suits small bandsaws that regularly cut similar pipe, tube, flat bar and modest solid sections.
Fourteen teeth per inch gives a tooth spacing of about 1.8mm. Three teeth in the cut therefore point to material of roughly 5.5mm or thicker, which covers a lot of everyday fabrication stock. A single, constant pitch gives a steady, predictable cut that is ideal for repeat work on the same section.
As a bimetal blade it pairs a hard, heat-resistant high-speed steel edge with a flexible spring-steel back, so it lasts longer than a plain steel blade in metal and tolerates the bending of an 899mm band. At 1/2" wide it gives good straight-line accuracy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use coolant with this blade?
If your machine has a coolant system, use it when cutting steel and stainless. It reduces heat at the teeth and helps the blade last longer.
What does it mean if the teeth face the wrong way?
The blade has been fitted inside out. Turn it over so the teeth point down towards the table, or towards the work in the cutting direction, before use.
