Application
Variable-pitch bimetal bandsaw blades in narrower widths are a popular choice for cutting metal tube, thin-wall section, and mixed bundles where vibration control is essential for blade life and operator comfort.
Bandsaw Blade Width: 1/2"
At 1/2" wide, this is the most common general-purpose bandsaw blade width. It tracks reliably for straight ripping, resawing, and gentle curves on mid-size floor-standing machines, and is the default choice for most wood and light metal bandsaw blade work.
TPI: 10–14 TPI (variable pitch)
Variable pitch — very low vibration on thin steel section, ERW tube, and sheet.
Keep at least 3 teeth in contact with the workpiece at all times for efficient cutting and to avoid stripping tooth tips. For thin-wall or variable-section material, variable-pitch bandsaw blades reduce harmonic vibration and extend bandsaw blade life.
Bandsaw Blade Length: 899mm
A 899mm bandsaw blade fits compact benchtop bandsaws. These smaller machines are common in hobbyist workshops and light trade use, where work-piece size is limited but the machine is portable and cost-effective.
If your saw requires a slightly different bandsaw blade length, enter your exact measurement in our configurator — we cut bandsaw blades to any length within our range. The loop length is always measured with the bandsaw blade ends joined as they run on the machine.
Choosing an 899mm 1/2" 10-14 TPI bimetal blade
This bimetal bandsaw blade measures 899mm long and 1/2" (about 12.7mm) wide, with a 10-14 TPI variable pitch. It is a dependable general-purpose blade for small metal-cutting bandsaws.
With tooth spacing running from about 2.5mm to 1.8mm, a 10-14 blade covers a broad range of work. It is most at home on solid bar, flat bar, angle and thicker-walled tube, roughly 6mm and up by the three-teeth rule. Its mixed spacing also helps damp vibration, which on a small machine can otherwise show up as noise and a rough finish.
Bimetal blades are built with a high-speed steel tooth edge welded to a flexible back. The edge stays sharp under the heat of cutting steel and stainless, while the back takes the bending of an 899mm band around the wheels. The 1/2" width is for straight work rather than tight curves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure an 899mm blade?
Measure the full circumference of the old blade, or mark one tooth and roll the blade along the floor until the mark comes round again. Our How to Measure guide explains each method.
Can this blade cut aluminium?
Yes. It handles aluminium, brass and copper as well as steel. On soft metals keep an eye on the gullets, as soft swarf can pack them if the feed is too heavy.
