Application

Variable-pitch bimetal bandsaw blades in narrower widths are a popular choice for cutting metal tube, thin-wall section, and mixed bundles where vibration control is essential for blade life and operator comfort.

Bandsaw Blade Width: 1/2"

At 1/2" wide, this is the most common general-purpose bandsaw blade width. It tracks reliably for straight ripping, resawing, and gentle curves on mid-size floor-standing machines, and is the default choice for most wood and light metal bandsaw blade work.

TPI: 10–14 TPI (variable pitch)

Variable pitch — very low vibration on thin steel section, ERW tube, and sheet.

Keep at least 3 teeth in contact with the workpiece at all times for efficient cutting and to avoid stripping tooth tips. For thin-wall or variable-section material, variable-pitch bandsaw blades reduce harmonic vibration and extend bandsaw blade life.

Bandsaw Blade Length: 835mm

A 835mm bandsaw blade fits compact benchtop bandsaws. These smaller machines are common in hobbyist workshops and light trade use, where work-piece size is limited but the machine is portable and cost-effective.

If your saw requires a slightly different bandsaw blade length, enter your exact measurement in our configurator — we cut bandsaw blades to any length within our range. The loop length is always measured with the bandsaw blade ends joined as they run on the machine.

Choosing an 835mm 1/2" 10-14 TPI bimetal blade

This 835mm bimetal bandsaw blade is 1/2" (about 12.7mm) wide with a 10-14 TPI variable tooth pitch. It is an all-round blade for small metal-cutting bandsaws that handle a mix of jobs from day to day.

In a 10-14 pattern the gaps between teeth change along the band, from about 2.5mm down to about 1.8mm. Mixing spacings breaks up the vibration that a constant pitch can set up, so the blade runs quieter and the cut finish is more even. Keeping three teeth in the work points to sections of around 6mm and above; it will cope with medium-wall tube too, but thin walls are better served by a finer pitch.

Because it is bimetal, the edge is high-speed steel and the back is a tough, flexible steel. That pairing is what lets the teeth survive the heat of cutting steel and stainless, while the band resists the fatigue that builds up as it flexes round the wheels of a smaller 835mm machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a variable pitch blade better for mixed workshop use?

Usually yes. A 10-14 variable pitch copes with a wider spread of section sizes than a single pitch, so you can cut bar, tube and angle without swapping blades as often.

Does an 835mm blade need running in?

Yes. Take the first few cuts with a lighter feed so the sharp tooth tips are not chipped. This break-in helps any new bimetal blade last longer.
