Application
Fine TPI bimetal bandsaw blades in this configuration cut thin-wall metal tube, sheet, and precision aluminium extrusions cleanly, with minimal burr and good dimensional control.
Bandsaw Blade Width: 1/2"
At 1/2" wide, this is the most common general-purpose bandsaw blade width. It tracks reliably for straight ripping, resawing, and gentle curves on mid-size floor-standing machines, and is the default choice for most wood and light metal bandsaw blade work.
TPI: 24 TPI
Finest cut — very thin sheet metal, delicate brass, and thin-walled precision tube.
Keep at least 3 teeth in contact with the workpiece at all times for efficient cutting and to avoid stripping tooth tips. For thin-wall or variable-section material, variable-pitch bandsaw blades reduce harmonic vibration and extend bandsaw blade life.
Bandsaw Blade Length: 1134mm
A 1134mm bandsaw blade fits compact benchtop bandsaws. These smaller machines are common in hobbyist workshops and light trade use, where work-piece size is limited but the machine is portable and cost-effective.
If your saw requires a slightly different bandsaw blade length, enter your exact measurement in our configurator — we cut bandsaw blades to any length within our range. The loop length is always measured with the bandsaw blade ends joined as they run on the machine.
Choosing a 1134mm 1/2" 24 TPI bimetal blade
This 1134mm x 1/2" (about 12.7mm) bimetal bandsaw blade has a fine 24 TPI pitch. It is a specialist blade for small bandsaws cutting thin material, where a coarser blade would snag or tear.
At 24 TPI the teeth sit just over 1mm apart, so several teeth share the work even on thin sections. With three teeth in the cut you need roughly 3mm of material, which makes it a good fit for sheet, thin-wall tube, small conduit and fine profiles in steel, stainless and non-ferrous metals. Very thin sheet is best clamped to a scrap backing board so the blade always has enough material to bite.
The blade is bimetal: a hard high-speed steel cutting edge on a flexible alloy steel back, giving long edge life in metal and resistance to fatigue from running over the wheels. The 1/2" width keeps cuts straight and allows gentle curves.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 24 TPI too fine for thick metal?
Yes. On thick solid sections the small gullets clog and the blade overheats. Keep this blade for thin material and use a coarser pitch for heavier stock.
How do I count the TPI on my old blade?
Lay a ruler along the teeth and count how many sit within one inch (25.4mm). A 24 TPI blade will have 24 teeth in that inch.
